About Azadi
Azadi discovered belly dance in September 2005 and has been obsessed with
it ever since. A true student at heart, she has taken classes in fusion and
cabaret styles with Faun Finley (Fauna) and Carmen Cavanaugh (Karma) of Studio
318, performance skills with Diane Carter (Daliana) of Troupe Bellysima, and
tribal improvisation with Sara Beaman of Blue Moon Dance Company. She began
an apprenticeship with Sara Beaman in Dec 2008 to become more proficient in
tribal improv.
She often attends dance workshops given by Blue Moon Dance Company, and has
workshopped with the likes of Zoe Jakes, Suhaila Salimpour, Mardi Love, Rachel
Brice, Onca, Kami Liddle, Aisha Ali, and Zafira. Most influenced by The Indigo,
Fat Chance Belly Dance, and Gypsy Caravan, she loves to perform as well as
watch others perform and started teaching basic belly dance and tribal improv
in 2008. She is also a strong creative force within Torque. She loves costuming
of all sorts and works to create original designs for the troupe.
